Calligraphic Portfolio Samples

Over the years, we have developed our own styles of lettering that can make any type of presentation more unique and attractive. This hand-wrought calligraphy can be applied to awards, citations, resolutions, certificates, placecards, tentcards, mats, and presentation folders. We can also customize any color to match a logo or other preference.

This features the combination of a Roman Cap and our own Old English lettering, filigree, grey-wash shadowing, and additional color.
This features our stylized Italic hand, grey-wash shadowing, and coloring.
The increasingly popular modified Uncial lettering is shown along with color-shadowing.
This example displays the use of Versal caps with our Vertical Italic, along with letter-outlining and letter color-fill-in
(an alternative to shadowing)

Our Own Developed Letters

Hobbsian Script,a beautiful version based on foundations of Zanerian Script.

This is often used for invitations, envelopes, resolutions, and book dedication pages.

Often used for signature title lines and accommodating large bodies of text in an unusually compact text area, this Hobbsian Stump Script is a very elegant, delicate seriphed hand.
A formal hand, Hobbsian Old English is often used for name treatments and titles on resolutions and citations.
This hand can be produced in two styles:
  • Retouched (shown here with decorative crossing lines)
  • Rapid (basic structuring of letters without crossing lines).
Used for titles and initial cap letters, this Hobbsian Roman Cap hand accommodates the addition of color and further embellishment very well.
Specifically reserved for accent cap letters, Lombardic (or Norder's Alphabet) hand, stylized by A.B. Tolley, accommodates the addition of color and further embellishment of color and shell gold burnishing extremely well.
Readily used for body copy, this Hobbsian Readable Text hand accommodates large blocks of writing which possess even, justified spacing; this is especially "easy on the eye" when used in larger resolutions.

For a More Illustrative Presentation-

The example on the left shows the result of a combination of many design elements:
  • Hand-mixed rich, customized coloring
  • Border in conjunction with an initial Roman Cap
  • Burnished Shell Gold (which can be tooled with any design)
  • Shadow effect to create a three-dimensional appearance

The sample on the right displays a more elaborate treatment:
  • Subtle, harmonious color palette (all colors seen are hand-mixed)
  • Filigreed Bordering (can incorporate any chosen pattern)
  • Lombardic Style Initial Cap
  • Layering of color on color as well as further design added upon color
