BUT EXACTLY WHAT GOES INTO THE FIRE? A MAN'S SPIRIT? HIS "GHOST?"
Remember the church being the body of Christ? And remember how some churchs
won't act for fear of losing a part of its church body? Christ has much to say
regarding hell symbolically, illustratively, and literally.
In Mark 9:43-47 Jesus said, "and if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is
better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into
hell... and if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter
halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell... and if thine eye
offended thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of
God withone eye, than having eyes to be cast into hell fire..."
When people go into hell, they will have a body. With hands, feet, and eyes.
In Matthew 5:30 Jesus said that it is "the whole body" that shall be cast
into hell fire. Not some "spirit" or "soul" that leaves the body at death --
the whole body goes.
If Jesus wished us to know differently, He would have told us that something
else besides out bodies go into hell. Jesus told us in Matthew 10:28 that hell
will destroy both our bodies and souls.
But people have insisted upon infusing into Christianity the Pagan and
Spirtualistic beliefs of "disembodied entities," and this has promulgated this
error about man's condition in death.
No, the Bible clearly indicates that it will be man's physical body that ends
up going into the fires of hell, not just his "spirit" or some ghostly
disincarnate part of him.
