THE WOMAN ON THE MOON

"There appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars." [REV 12:1]

As she grew ready to deliver her man child, a Great Red Dragon hissed its readiness to attempt to devour her baby. As the 70 weeks of Daniel 9 told when Christ would arrive, this vision tells of how Satan would viciously strive to KILL THE CHRIST CHILD by Herod's order to murder all the children in Bethlehem of two years and under, and then how the "woman" would flee into the wildnerness for those 1260 "days."

Note that the Bible told where, when, and what bloodline Christ would come from. Satan did everything he could to persecute the Jews, the bloodline, at various locations and times when key factors were necessary for Christ to be able to enter the world as prophecy foretold. Even though the events were large and bloody, Satan was ineffective.

The woman represents the True Church [see the part about the Harlot of Babylon], and the crown of twelve stars symbolizes the twelve disciples. The 1260 years of Papal persecution drove God's true church into hiding, into the lonely mountains away from the wrath of Satan and Popes.
