My first name came from my maternal grandfather, Dan Knepp, and my middle name from my paternal grandfather, Doug Adams.

I met Laurie in April of 1998 through a mutual friend, Mary Schons. Laurie and I hit it off immediately, and she very quickly became my closest friend in Southwest Virginia, and aside from family my biggest regret at leaving the area in October of 1999 for Northern Virginia. But in the summer of 2001 we realized that we wanted more than friendship; Laurie moved into Bull Run Castle with me in November of that year, and we married six months later.

First published short story: "Never Eat Strange Berries", New Dominions anthology (October 1995)
First (professionally) published poetry: "Four Rendezvous", Dreams of Decadence (Winter 2001)
First published book: The City Beyond Play, co-written with Philip Jose Farmer (PS Publishing, September 2007)
