The Bible contains hundreds of verses that comment on what happens to man in
death, and it is a grave error to only read two or three of these verses and
build a "doctrine" upon only those. And when you DO take into consideration
ALL the Bible verses that deal with death and the resurrcetion, etc., it's easy
to come to the conclusion that none of these things like "directly to heaven,"
"directly to hell," "limbo," "purgatory," or "reincarnation" happen to man
immediately upon his death.
The only two sign posts that pertain to man's ultimate destiny are "heaven"
or "hell" -- and until then, man sleeps in the grave -- that IS what the Bible
says about death.
